Tesamorelin
For research use only
Tesamorelin
An analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). 44 amino acids with a stabilising N-terminal modification, lyophilised powder.
Amount of active substance
- A synthetic analogue of human GHRH with 44 amino acids.
- At the N-terminus it carries a trans-3-hexenoyl group, which protects the molecule from degradation by the DPP-4 enzyme.
- It belongs to the GHRH analogues, not to the ghrelin-type secretagogues.
- It acts on GHRH receptors in the pituitary; the literature describes stimulation of the pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone.
- Unlike administering growth hormone from outside, published work describes it as preserving the physiological pulsatile pattern.
- Secondarily, studies follow the effect on IGF-1 levels.
- The GHRH – GH – IGF-1 axis and its regulation.
- Distribution of visceral fat.
- Lipid metabolism.
Tesamorelin has a clinical literature, including controlled studies in a narrowly
