Lipo-C + B12
For research use only
Lipo-C + B12
A combined formulation of lipotropic substances with vitamin B12. Supplied as a solution — unlike most of the catalog, it is not lyophilised.
- **Lipotropic factors** — usually methionine, inositol and choline, referred to by the abbreviation MIC.
- **Cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin** (vitamin B12).
- The exact composition and concentrations are given in the certificate of analysis for the batch; formulations differ between manufacturers.
- **It is not a peptide.** It is a mixture of an amino acid, B-group vitamins and vitamin B12.
- Choline and methionine are described in the literature as methyl group donors in lipid metabolism.
- Inositol is part of the phosphatidylinositol signalling pathways.
- B12 is a cofactor of methionine synthase and methylmalonyl-CoA mutase — so it feeds into the same methylation cycle.
- The combination is built on the shared involvement of these substances in methylation metabolism, not on a demonstrated synergistic effect.
- Lipid metabolism and fat transport in the liver.
- The methylation cycle and homocysteine.
- Nutritional deficiencies of B-group vitamins.
The individual components have well described biochemistry and, in the case of
B12 deficiency, clinical data as well. The combined formulation as a whole,
however, has no controlled studies, and claims about an effect on body
composition are not supported.
- Supplied as a ready solution — it is not reconstituted.
- Light sensitive; B12 degrades on exposure to light. Keep in the dark and cold.
- Do not freeze.
The efficacy and safety of administering this substance to humans are not sufficiently established clinically. The information given here is solely a summary of published research findings, predominantly from laboratory and animal models. It constitutes neither a health claim nor a recommendation for use in humans. The product is intended strictly for research purposes and is not a medicine.

- Solvent
- Bacteriostatic water (Bac Water) — available as a separate item in the Supporting products category.
- Procedure
- Run the solvent down the wall of the vial, not directly onto the lyophilised powder. Do not shake the vial — swirl gently until fully dissolved.
- Note
- We provide no dosing protocols and no recommendations for use in humans. What is given here are laboratory handling procedures only.
- Lyophilised (unreconstituted)
- −20 °C, in the dark, in the original packaging.
- After reconstitution
- 2–8 °C, protected from light. Do not refreeze repeatedly.
- Transport
- Neutral packaging, no cold chain. A short-term rise in temperature during transit has no material effect on the lyophilised powder.
