NAD+
For research use only
NAD+
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide — a coenzyme, not a peptide. Supplied as a lyophilised powder.
- A coenzyme present in every living cell. **It is not a peptide** — it belongs to the nucleotide cofactors.
- It exists in an oxidised (NAD+) and a reduced (NADH) form; their ratio is an indicator of the metabolic state of the cell.
- The literature describes cellular NAD+ levels falling with age.
- It serves as an electron carrier in glycolysis, the Krebs cycle and the respiratory chain.
- It is a substrate for the sirtuins (SIRT1–SIRT7), enzymes involved in the regulation of gene expression and in the response to metabolic stress.
- It is also a substrate for the PARP enzymes in DNA repair and for CD38.
- According to the literature, NAD+ availability therefore limits the activity of these pathways.
- Mitochondrial function and energy metabolism.
- Sirtuin activity and cellular ageing.
- DNA repair.
- The metabolic response to exertion and to energy restriction.
The role of NAD+ in metabolism is settled biochemistry. The open question is
whether and how cellular NAD+ levels can be influenced from the outside — the
literature is divided on this, and most clinical data concern the precursors
(NR, NMN) rather than NAD+ itself.
- The solution is sensitive to light and to repeated freezing.
- NAD+ is hygroscopic — keep the vial open for as short a time as possible.
The efficacy and safety of administering this substance to humans are not sufficiently established clinically. The information given here is solely a summary of published research findings, predominantly from laboratory and animal models. It constitutes neither a health claim nor a recommendation for use in humans. The product is intended strictly for research purposes and is not a medicine.
Handling and documentation
- Name
- NAD+
- Form
- Lyophilised powder

| Strength | Cat. no. | Batch | Purity | 1 unit | 3+ units |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1000 mg | UP-NAD-1000 | batch ND-2408 | 99.08 % | 80 € | 74 € |
- Solvent
- Bacteriostatic water (Bac Water) — available as a separate item in the Supporting products category.
- Procedure
- Run the solvent down the wall of the vial, not directly onto the lyophilised powder. Do not shake the vial — swirl gently until fully dissolved.
- Note
- We provide no dosing protocols and no recommendations for use in humans. What is given here are laboratory handling procedures only.
- Lyophilised (unreconstituted)
- −20 °C, in the dark, in the original packaging.
- After reconstitution
- 2–8 °C, protected from light. Do not refreeze repeatedly.
- Transport
- Neutral packaging, no cold chain. A short-term rise in temperature during transit has no material effect on the lyophilised powder.
