A tripeptide — the C-terminal fragment of alpha-MSH. Three amino acids (Lys-Pro-Val), supplied as a lyophilised powder.
Amount of active substance
- A tripeptide of lysine, proline and valine.
- It is the C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, specifically its last three amino acids (11–13).
- Unlike whole alpha-MSH it **has no pigmentary effect** — it lacks the part of the molecule responsible for binding to MC1R.
- At three amino acids, the literature describes it as relatively stable.
- Published work describes an effect on NF-κB signalling in models of inflammation.
- Studied in connection with transport across cell membranes via the PepT1 transporter, which is expressed in inflamed tissue.
- In models, an effect on the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines is described.
- The local inflammatory response.
- Inflammatory bowel conditions in experimental models.
- Skin inflammation and barrier function.
- Antimicrobial properties of alpha-MSH fragments.
The data come from cell cultures and animal models, chiefly mouse models of
colitis. Controlled clinical studies in humans are not available.

- Solvent
- Bacteriostatic water (Bac Water) — available as a separate item in the Supporting products category.
- Procedure
- Run the solvent down the wall of the vial, not directly onto the lyophilised powder. Do not shake the vial — swirl gently until fully dissolved.
- Note
- We provide no dosing protocols and no recommendations for use in humans. What is given here are laboratory handling procedures only.
- Lyophilised (unreconstituted)
- −20 °C, in the dark, in the original packaging.
- After reconstitution
- 2–8 °C, protected from light. Do not refreeze repeatedly.
- Transport
- Neutral packaging, no cold chain. A short-term rise in temperature during transit has no material effect on the lyophilised powder.
