DSIP
Delta sleep-inducing peptide — a nonapeptide isolated from blood. Nine amino acids, supplied as a lyophilised powder.
- A nonapeptide of nine amino acids, sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu.
- First isolated from the blood of rabbits in a sleep phase — hence the name.
- Despite the name, its role in the regulation of sleep is disputed in the literature.
- Published work describes an effect on delta waves in the EEG in some animal models; other work has not confirmed the effect.
- Studied in connection with the regulation of corticotropin and somatotropin secretion.
- An interaction with the stress response and with the hypothalamic-pituitary axis is described.
- No receptor has been identified — that is one of the main open questions.
- Sleep regulation and EEG patterns.
- The neuroendocrine response to stress.
- Circadian rhythmicity.
DSIP is one of those peptides where the original findings from the 1970s and
1980s could not be replicated consistently. No receptor has been identified, the
mechanism is not elucidated, and controlled clinical studies to current standards
do not exist. The name of the peptide is historical, not a description of a
demonstrated effect — and it should not be read as a claim about sleep.
The efficacy and safety of administering this substance to humans are not sufficiently established clinically. The information given here is solely a summary of published research findings, predominantly from laboratory and animal models. It constitutes neither a health claim nor a recommendation for use in humans. The product is intended strictly for research purposes and is not a medicine.

- Solvent
- Bacteriostatic water (Bac Water) — available as a separate item in the Supporting products category.
- Procedure
- Run the solvent down the wall of the vial, not directly onto the lyophilised powder. Do not shake the vial — swirl gently until fully dissolved.
- Note
- We provide no dosing protocols and no recommendations for use in humans. What is given here are laboratory handling procedures only.
- Lyophilised (unreconstituted)
- −20 °C, in the dark, in the original packaging.
- After reconstitution
- 2–8 °C, protected from light. Do not refreeze repeatedly.
- Transport
- Neutral packaging, no cold chain. A short-term rise in temperature during transit has no material effect on the lyophilised powder.
